Who my bell tolls for

This is a true story. Until the last word, until the last breath. It has already been experienced and also told. But told in a partial and – from my very personal point of view – unfair way. It is said that there must be two bells to be heard before conclusions can be drawn. And the only bell that has rung so far has done so by whispering in the silence of closed rooms or in secluded corners but also by screaming until it no longer has a voice, so that even those who should not or did not want to hear, would hear. This book is my bell. It will not make any noise, it will not produce any sound, except in the mind of those who want to read it to the end. It took five long years of dashed hopes to find the strength to ring this bell. But, in the end, the time to do so has come. And I will do it in the most correct and impartial way, as far as a human being can do. I will reconstruct the facts in the most detailed and objective way, trying to limit my judgments to those which it is simply not possible to suppress or which spring from naturally logical conclusions. Where possible, I will indicate the exact day and even the time when the events took place, in order to give a chronological sense to the story. I will point out as dispassionately as I can the responsibilities I attribute to Anna, my wife, and I will admit those which she attributes to me. Shameless, without comfortable alibis. Obviously, the names of people and places used do not correspond to the real ones, but have been replaced with others of pure fantasy, out of respect for the privacy of the protagonists of this sad, perhaps trivial, but true, human story.
