Description
Capablanca by Himself. Volume Two. His Best Years is the second book of the Cuban genius’s games commented on by him. It adds 65 more productions of the master to those published in Volume One , reaching 122 games found in books, magazines, newspapers, and the Internet in English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish. And there will be a Volume Three of the years of World Champion and former World Champion of Capablanca that will add (at least for now) 50 more games annotated by the master, bringing the book to a total of 172 productions. As in Volume One , we first publish the games only with Capablanca analysis, to enjoy the point of view of one of the best players (if not the best!) of all times. This is a unique opportunity to enter the mind of a genius. It is also an important collection of documents that will shed light on the real style of play of the great Cuban. Studying these games while sharing his evaluation and original way of analysis by blocks will surely lead the critical reader to question some of the intents to restrict Capablanca to one particular chess school. He was much more than a “positional,” “solid non-risky,” or “mechanical” player (compared to a machine in some cases) . We invite the scholar and the student to carefully weigh Capablanca’s comments and analyses before drawing his own conclusions. What kind of player Capablanca really was? We’d like to hear from you! Then, with the publication of the third volume, we will offer our consideration. Our Notes on the Openings, History of his adversaries, and the moves themselves provide information and analysis of each game. That allows the reader to consider the circumstances in which the games were played as well as the updated analysis from the modern point of view. With these Notes we do not pretend to show a superior understanding of the game than Capablanca (God set us aside of such vanity!) , but (with the help of nowadays best chess programs) we totally intend to be loyal to the discoveries that inevitably have occurred in these fields over the relentless course of time. On the other hand, these were Capablanca’s best years. He not only delivered (according to historical Elo) his best performance in a competition in 1918, but he himself claimed that he was playing his best Chess in March of 1919. Capablanca also topped the historical list of Elo for one month in 1914, another month in 1915, and from 1919 to 1923, before and after his crowning as World Champion in 1921. Some games of the first two volumes are here thanks to the help of selfless people, like an Argentine female friend who searched them in the Library of Buenos Aires. We will never forget this, Cristina! Finally, we have had the very important help of our readers, who have made invaluable suggestions. Please, keep accompanying us on this journey! —- ISBN: 9798883800367 | ISBN10: B0CZDSRGSB | ISBN-13: 979-8883800367
