I lived inside my own head for a long, long time. Dreaming of what I could do and be outside the confines of my brain. It was nice. But then one day it just stopped. I had to find out what was outside. I had to see daylight, feel the sunshine on my skin, and the wind on my face. But the world was not what I imagined. It is dark and cold, harsh and violent, unfair and brutal. It almost convinced me I was nothing. But deep inside me I could feel something different. A gentle and warm whisper telling me that I matter. I had to claw my way out of the negative headspace that circumstances put me in. I had to escape to love, to hope, to live. To figure out how I could make my piece of the world better than when I found it. After living in darkness, repression and denial for so long, I finally get to choose the mark I make on this plane of exsistence. My name is Andy, I am a Phoenix, and this is my story. Phoenix is the deeply personal memoir of a slightly autistic, gay introvert struggling with issues of identity, mental health, and challenging the existing order. With a no holds barred and unapollegetically honest approuch, I chronicle my memories of my confusing, bipolar, and occasionally humorous life.
