Description
Cut, laminate and take it into the water! Structure and information: Water adjustment: Fears are overcome, physical coordination is developed Underwater work: Exhaling underwater, keeping eyes open, floating underwater, further underwater movements Body position in the water: Starfish on front and back (crucial exercise) Gliding: Stretching and lying stretched out in and on the water, head in the water Kicks: Starting with crawl and backstroke, as the kicks are easier for kids (information on breaststroke can be found in the advanced exercise cards) Jumping: Navigating depths, identifying how to return to the surface, diving Arm strokes: Crawl and backstroke arm movements Putting it all together: Coordination of arms and legs Competitions: Starting dives, turns Breaststroke: Coordination of arms and legs; for most children, breaststroke is not performed correctly until puberty This course is suitable for children from kindergarten through to those training for a gold badge. The appendix contains a further 5 lessons for beginners and advanced learners. How to use this course: Find out which level the children are at and divide them into appropriate groups. If an exercise is performed by the children easily, you can move on to the next one directly. You can also skip over alternative exercises. The classes are planned for a lesson time of 45 minutes with a group of 6 children. If you have less time available or the group is larger, allocate the lesson time accordingly. The fun factor should be maintained. Rigid learning of swim techniques and always the same exercises is not much fun – relax between training exercises with fun exercises (sitting or standing on the board) or finish the lesson with a game where less able children can also win (the number card games are perfect here). Movement in the water is especially important for children who are overweight or who have problems with motor skills. Praise them even if other children can do the exercise better. Children who are praised are more motivated and have more fun. Fins should be worn initially, but later these should be left off.
