Description
A garbage record logbook required on vessels over 400 Gross Tons, carrying 15 or more passengers, or engaged in voyages to ports / offshore terminals. Mandated by Regulation 9 of Annex V of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973, and modified by the Protocol of 1978 (MARPOL 73/78). A record is to be kept of each discharge operation or incineration. This includes discharges at sea, to reception facilities, or to other ships, as well as accidental loss of garbage.
