Integration Basics for the Hewlett Packard HP 35s Scientific Calculator

This book introduces the integration feature of the HP 35s. The HP 35s will do what is usually referred to as a ‘numerical’ integration. The mechanics of three approaches are discussed: a simple from-the-keypad approach; a semi-programmed approach; and a fully-programmed approach. The book does not go into the ‘calculus details’ of doing integration. The book also does not go into the more sophisticated aspects of programming the HP 35s. As an Aside: At one time, there was an official Hewlett Packard site which offered free access to the HP 35s Scientific Calculator User’s Guide ; however, lately (January 2022) that site does not appear to offer access to the free version. The origins of the HP 35s date back fifty-plus years to the HP-35, considered to be the world’s first scientific calculator. The early technology of the HP 35s does mean it can be a bit slower than more recent calculus capable calculators. However, it is essentially the only one offering Reverse Polish Notation (RPN). I will include a bit more detail than absolutely necessary, just in case you are new to the HP 35s, or haven’t used your calculator recently.
